“The Dwelling” is a collaboration among three artists Jieun Beth, Sara Madandar, and Christina Coleman. It is located at the Elisabet Ney Museum in Austin, TX.
"The Dwelling" has two scenes, day and night. During the day it reflects the outside surrounding and during the night it reveals what’s inside. These three artists reflect their shared experiences with Elisabet Ney, a prominent Austin sculptor from the 19th century. Inside the structure, the artists incorporated their own artistic ideas and sensibilities in the installation. The installation speaks to themes such as the idea of home, the duality between vulnerability and the formidable, the female body and the cultural heritage.
This project is funded and supported in part by the City of Austin through the Economic Growth & Redevelopment Services Office/Cultural Arts Division believing an investment in the Arts is an investment in Austin’s future.
